Our Founder Nick Corbett moved at 18 years old from North-wales to Manchester to work as an electrician for a local firm. He soon went self employed doing his own electrical installations from start to finish.

After a couple of years working in the electrical field, Nick began to specialise in CCTV and access control as he found a lot of customers requesting security in addition to their electrical requirements.

Deciding to branch out into other areas of the project, Nick founded BEY projects with Paul Fairbrother. Nick had a wealth of electrical and security installation experience, and Paul had some great building and joinery skills. This allowed them to offer a more hands on approach on each project. Overtime they began to offer gates and barriers, in conjunction with the CCTV and access control.

Wanting to specialise further, Nick started Country Gates Ltd. With only a van and a storage lockup, we began installing gates, barriers, bollards, CCTV and Access control for homes and businesses throughout the north-west.

After incredible success and hard work, we moved into our own office premises in Bredbury, Stockport where the team began to grow as more and more customers recommend Country Gates & Barriers for Installation and Servicing.

Country Gates decided on a rebrand as the company began to branch out into more commercial premises.

After unprecedented growth and success, the team continued to expand with more and more engineers along with our customer base.

After many years installing wood and wrought-iron, Nick was attending historic sites and receiving some negative feedback on the maintenance required to strip, varnish and repaint gates in order to keep them looking pristine. Nick then travelled the globe in search of a higher-quality, longer lasting solution. He found a company based in France who were offering exceptional quality aluminium gates – Horizal. Lightweight, customisable and resistance to rust and corrosion they were the perfect solution. He then signed an exclusive agreement to install these gates in the UK.

At around 3am in January of 2020 we received a call from the fire service to report that a business that was 2 units down had experienced a fire that engulfed the property and also caused further damage to the connected businesses on that unit. Our whole building suffered considerable fire damage.

Business did not cease operations and two portacabins were ordered for the outside of the property. Nick using his years of experience began to completely redevelop the property after hours and weekends.

In late 2020 our new offices were finished with a complete redesign. This has become an excellent space for us to collaborate and focus intently on serving the customer to the best of our ability.
